BC Emergency Health Services, under the authority of the Emergency Health Services Act, has the exclusive mandate to regulate the practice of all Paramedics and emergency medical assistants in British Columbia, including first responders. Paramedics and emergency medical assistants shall practice within the scope of their license to the extent directed by BCEHS which may include, but is not limited to, restrictions due to the availability of medical oversight, equipment, medication or current consent agreement.
